lucky 13: happy halloween
happy halloween!! 🧡 i hope you are all having a good day and that you have a fun and safe night! i figured since it’s halloween, it would be appropriate to do a lucky 13.. you know, in regards to all things spooky and superstitious 👻
this halloween look was kind of on accident. i had ordered these boots a few months ago wanting to get the “classic rain boot color” and about an hour after ordering, i remembered that the color was yellow, not mac-and-cheese orange. 🤦🏻♀️ i still kept them, and decided to wear them on this day since it was so gloomy and rainy.
i’ve mentioned it before, but while i was at school in santa barbara, halloween was kind of a big deal. i definitely did more than my fair share of dressing up, and i haven’t dressed up since. which is probably why i am so passive about it now.
if i were to dress up again, i would want to be a ringleader for a circus (although i don’t like circuses), a skeleton, or mario/ luigi because it looks like a comfy costume. i will say, i think picking a costume is something you have to be really mindful of, though, because you don’t want to get anywhere near cultural appropriation.. even if it’s unintentional.
this time last year my mom and i were in mexico and got to see how Dia de los Muertos is celebrated and it was absolutely INCREDIBLE.
being on the east coast this fall has brought my appreciation for pumpkins and pumpkin carving to a whole new level. still not into pumpkin spice whatever.
unrelated, but i can’t believe the sox won the world series this year!! i mean i can totally believe it but how fun. my uncle frank took me to a game a few years ago and it’s one of my favorite memories ever. i am going to get roasted for saying this but i really don’t care: he is my favorite uncle. favorite favorite. i just think he is the best. so i’m happy for him that they won.
shout out to anyone who planned to dress up as a dodgers baseball player this year 🤯💙 ouch.
i have this pair of shoes that i call my “Cher shoes” that are gold and have like 7” heels. they were not an impulse purchase whatsoever, but i have since realized that the only time they would work is if i wore them on halloween. but Cher is not a costume; she’s an icon.
also i really want to go see Lady Gaga in Vegas next year! both nights - she is doing her regular stuff and then also jazz. how fancyyyyy does that sound?
does anyone else remember how disney used to show a bunch of scary movies for halloween? maybe they still do. but they showed this one movie that was legitimately scary and still freaks me out a little to this day. it’s called The Witches and was based on a book by Roald Dahl. it’s a kid’s movie but it is sooo unsettling - especially the ballroom scene. ughh.
i tried to dye my hair green earlier this month because i’ve always wanted green hair and i cannot even begin to explain how big of a fail it was. especially since i was trying to get it done on a time crunch and have it out before traveling.. but mannnn i still wish it would’ve worked.
hocus pocus is the best halloween movie. EVER. but i also love rob zombie’s halloween.
and lastly, because the truth will set you free (hopefully).. i am repeating this story purely from what others have told me because i don’t remember. i don’t even think i want to remember. but one year when i was in grade school, the whole class had to dress up as animals, and my mom chose for me to be a skunk. yes, a SKUNK. the nerveeee 😭. posting the photo purely because i think this is the only skeleton in my closet that would hold me back from a congressional run 😅 yikes.
