happy may 1st :) today’s blog is about a trip to the flower fields.

the flower fields are in carlsbad and if you are in southern california you should try to go at least once. my mom and i have gone for years now and it still doesn’t get old. we love to stop to look at all the different colors and how there will be a random pink or red one in the white flower section, or vice versa.

when we were walking around, we were talking about how different it is now from a few years ago - not the flowers because they are always ranunculuses, but how all of the people there were so focused on taking photos that they weren’t really stopping to take in the view. someone even brought a light reflector and kind of camped out at one of the bench lookouts which was kind of wild. that is pretty hypocritical for me to say since we did take pictures but we spent more time walking around and exploring.

there were people who work there tending to the adjacent field and filling the truck with flower bouquets to sell, and my mom met and talked with one of them. she took his picture too which was sweet. they work so hard to keep the fields in top shape and they really deserve credit for all they do.

we brought home a few packs of ranunculus seeds to plant in the backyard so fingers crossedddd :)
