Best Food at Petco Park
If you’re heading to Petco Park, the food is honestly just as much of an attraction as the game itself. Unlike most stadiums, Petco is packed with local San Diego restaurants, though you’ll still find all the ballpark classics, too.
With so many choices, it can be overwhelming to figure out what food is worth getting, and you don’t want to waste money on something mediocre that doesn’t live up to the hype. Over the years, we’ve tried it all (and more than once) to share with you exactly what’s worth the hype, where to find it, and how to avoid the lines.
My first tip: if you’re all about the food, get to the game early (gates open 90 minutes before first pitch). This is the easiest way to avoid crowds, get exactly what you want, and actually enjoy your food before the game starts.
best food at petco park (what to actually order in 2026)
seaside market
The most popular, and for a good reason. This is essentially your one-stop shop as you can get everything here - food, snacks, dessert, treats, and healthy options. Their menu caters to all dietary restrictions (vegan, gluten-free, vegetarian, keto, paleo, etc.), and the grab-and-go style is convenient without sacrificing quality.
The Seaside Market at the Mercado (main food section, 105) also has the infamous banana pudding in the Western Metal Supply souvenir trays. Word on the street is they sell out VERY quickly (by the 5th inning) so grab yours before the game starts!
Find it - Sections 105, 110, 308, 311, 322, 327, and Gallagher Square
What to order - Banana pudding (section 105 only) Also, tri-tip nachos, if you’re craving it. Here’s my thing: You can get the “Cardiff crack” meat at the flagship Seaside Market in Encinitas, so if you are a local or heading to the beach during your vacation, that’s the better option, especially since I find the Puesto nachos to be better when it comes to Petco Park food. But if it’s on your “must-try” list, you won’t be disappointed.
Best for - Healthy yet flavorful food, and “best of San Diego” vibes.
puesto
If you want something a little more elevated than standard stadium food, Puesto is worth getting. Known as an upscale restaurant with locations all around California, Puesto’s food is high-quality and made with fresh ingredients, making it a flavorful yet less-greasy option compared to burgers or hot dogs. You hear people rave about the tacos, but the nachos are the way to go; they’re easier to eat, perfect for sharing, and the chips stay crunchy.

What to order - Short rib birria nachos
Best for - Sharing and variety.
grand ole bbq
A San Diego staple, and one of the most popular spots in the stadium. Get here early as lines get long, but it’s worth the wait. I used to be so skeptical because it’s easy for BBQ to be bad - dry, bland, bad texture, you know the drill. That said, Grand Ole BBQ does it right. The food is flavorful and fresh; I don’t know how they mass-produce such quality food but they do. Whenever I go to a day game and want a true lunch prior to all the sweet snacks, Grand Ole BBQ is my go-to.
Find it - Mercado, Gallagher Square
What to order - El borracho fries, add brisket or the brisket sandwich. If you get the fries, don’t forget a fork!
Best for - A hearty, filling meal.
randy jones grill
Hot dogs are a ballpark staple, but if you want to a good one, you have to go to Randy Jones grill. Worth the extra $1-2 compared to the standard Ballpark Eats dog, these are flavorful, fresh, and you get a better portion, too. Add grilled onions, wrap yours in bacon, or get a true brat, this is worth walking the extra steps for.
Find it - Sections 118, 305, 306, and 323
What to order - Hot dog, light grilled onions
Best for - A true ballpark experience that doesn’t sacrifice flavor.
gaglione brothers garlic fries
A long-time Petco Park favorite, you can’t skip these. They’re buttery, garlicky, and shareable, and underrated at this point since there’s always something new to try at Petco. Located right at the corner of the stadium, so the walkway can get crowded; I recommend getting to the stadium early if this is on your “must try” list.
Find it - Section 124
What to order - Garlic fries
Best for - Snacking during the game.
mini donut company
I have a sweet tooth, so recommending just one dessert is impossibly hard for me. You can get the soft serve in a souvenir helmet at every stadium, and I love to collect them, but if you’re specifically interested in the best dessert, the mini donuts are the way to go. They’re fresh, light, and so fluffy. Some might say An’s Gelato is better (the Mercado near Section 104 ) but I think it’s underwhelming and too small a portion for the price; if you want something creamy, just get the ice cream instead.
But back to donuts and why I recommend them: they’re tiny, a great way to get a dessert on a budget if you can share with others, and sweet without being too much. My only complaint is that the powdered sugar one isn’t jelly-filled.
Find it - Section 107
What to order - A half-dozen variety
Best for - Ending the night right, or a mess-free sweet treat you can eat at your seat.
churro pretzel bites
New to Petco Park in 2026, these are so good and a true sleeper hit. The regular salty pretzels you see around the stadium can sometimes be stale, whereas these are fresh and chewy. Slightly harder to find (it’s a Pacifico cart that faces towards Puesto, not the field), but worth the walk! They come with icing and are super easy to share. If you are like me and can never decide between a pretzel or churro, this is how to get both for cheaper (and less mess). They also sell braided pretzels (honey mustard, buffalo, s’more, and salted) if you’re not into the idea of bites.
Find it - Section 206
What to order - Churro pretzel bites
Best for - When you can’t decide between salty and sweet.
petco park food tips and tricks
best cheap food at petco park
My meal plan recommendation for you if you’re want to get food at Petco, but don’t want to overspend:
The Randy Jones hot dog is around $12, and will fill you up.
Try to share an entree like the Puesto birria fries if you can; it’ll feed 2-4 and is a great way to experience "unique to Petco” food without overspending.
Desserts and snacks are cheaper than entrees. An’s gelato and the banana pudding are both around $10; you can also share the mini donuts or pretzel bites for a super good deal.
Petco Park allows outside food, so you can save money by bringing your own. When I want to spend the least amount of money possible, I’ll bring my own food (or eat before), and then spend on a dessert (like the churro pretzel bites) - it’s a fun way to make food part of the experience for less than $15.
Keep in mind that portions are big and prices add up, so share when you can and plan ahead.
where to find the best food (quick guide)
Main concourse - Most popular spots (Hodad’s, Phil’s BBQ, Puesto, Seaside Market)
When in doubt, go to the Mercado! Near Section 104, this has pretty much everything.
Upper levels - Shorter lines, fewer crowds
Gallagher Square - More relaxed and social; easier to eat and hang out
I recommend saving this post or making a note in your phone not just of the food you want to try, but the section number so you don’t get lost. Security is helpful if you get lost, but they don’t necessarily know specific section numbers for food vendors.
how to avoid long lines
Being able to avoid lines makes a huge difference when it comes to actually enjoying your food at a baseball game. This is especially true for Petco Park, as it’s not just a place to watch the game, but sort of a foodie mecca. To avoid lines and have a chance to explore the food scene without rushing:
Get there early; gates open 90 minutes before first pitch
Avoid peak innings (3rd–6th)
Order during gameplay, not between innings
Check less crowded sections upstairs
what food is petco park known for?
Petco Park stands out because it focuses on local San Diego restaurants and high-quality ingredients. You also get way more variety than most MLB stadiums; it truly is America’s Finest Ballpark. Some of the standouts include:
Seaside Market
Puesto
Gaglione Brothers
An’s Gelato
Grand Ole BBQ
Negihama Sushi
Hodad’s
what should you get first?
If it’s your first time and you want the full Petco Park experience, I recommend getting:
Puesto short rib birria nachos or Seaside Market tri-tip nachos
Randy Jones hot dog, Grand Old BBQ, or Gaglione garlic fries
An’s gelato, mini donuts, the churro pretzel bites, or honestly… a souvenir helmet soft serve :)
You can’t go wrong with any of those options, they’re perfect for sharing (but no shame if you don’t), and you get to experience the best of Petco. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed with all of the options Petco has to offer; I recommend mixing one “must-try” item with something lighter.
Petco Park easily has some of the best stadium food in the country. If you plan it right, you can turn your game day into a full food experience, not just a quick bite between innings.
