Best Hair Oils for Dry, Damaged Hair
After years of bleaching, highlights, and using shampoo nightly, my hair felt dry and damaged, no matter how often I used leave-in conditioner or deep conditioning masks. Needing a little extra care to get my hair healthy, I decided to add a hair oil to my routine. While I love hair oils for adding shine, achieving a a slicked back look, and making highlights pop, I wanted to find the best hair oils that specifically addressed dryness and damage. These hair oils are my absolute favorite - they restore, repair, and help prevent split ends and further damage. Whether you highlight your hair, swim in chlorine pools a lot, or just want healthy, strong locks, these are the best hair oils for dry, damaged hair.

k18 molecular repair hair oil
I know K18 is one of the more expensive hair brands, but their products are highly concentrated so I find them to be worth the price. Just a few drops of the Molecular Repair Hair Oil is all you need, so one bottle will last you a long time - I’ve had my most recent bottle for over 6 months and use it weekly. I like to apply a few drops to the ends of my hair, as well as around my face where I am most prone to breakage, and then let it sit all day (or overnight). This doubles as a heat protectant, so I also like to bring this with me when I travel (love multi-use products to free up suitcase space). The K18 Molecular Repair Hair Oil reduces frizz, adds shine, and reduces split ends, and has helped my hair grow out healthy and strong even with regular color appointments.
moroccanoil treatment hair oil
I love the versatile of this Moroccanoil Treatment Hair Oil; it really is great for all hair types. It provides the most intense nourishment, helps to seal the follicle, and provides tons of shine while helping to heal intense dryness and damage. If you work outside the house and want to do an all-day oil treatment, I highly suggest the Moroccanoil Treatment. You can make a really shiny, slicked back bun or pony that looks presentable, but still get that hydration and nourishment, too. Tip: don’t be too tough with the slicked back look; the more tension you create with your hair, the more damaging it can be.
verb ghost oil
This Verb oil was a random purchase a few months ago, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by it. The Verb Ghost Oil is one of the few oils where you can still notice hydration and glow even after you shampoo, but it doesn’t feel like it is residue leftover. This is nourishing and adds so much shine, but like the ghost name suggests, absorbs in so well that it doesn’t look or feel like you have hair oil in your hair. I love using this in the wintertime when I notice extra frizz and split ends (the colder temperatures are oftertimes drying). Lastly, the scent is very middle ground. It’s not too sweet or fruity, nor is it overpowering, so if you are sensitive to fragrance I recommend this one (or the Moroccanoil Treatment, which is more vanilla-y).
davines oi oil
I absolutely love the Davines Oi Oil, but before I brag about it, I have to say that the scent is so strong and very much love-it-or-hate-it (it’s masculine and sharp, if that makes sense). I don’t like the scent; I wish they had a different option, but this oil works so well that I make the sacrifice. This oil is the perfect weight; all hair types are going to notice deep hydration and shine, but it’s not so heavy that it will weigh down fine hair. That being said, as someone with fine hair, I prefer the K18 oil if I’m going to heat style my hair, as the Oi Oil makes my curls fall after a few hours.
The Oi Oil is color safe, tames frizz, and helps prevent split ends. A little goes a long way, so the price is justified in my opinion.
kerastase gloss absolu glaze anti-frizz hair oil
Anytime I use theKerastase Gloss Absolu Glaze Drops Anti-Frizz Hair Oil, I wonder why I don’t reach for it more often. Use a few drops on your ends daily post-styling and I swear you’ll notice a difference in the dryness and quality of your hair after just a few weeks. If you are someone who doesn’t want to oil your whole head or see it as a treatment, and would rather just make it a subtle part of your daily routine this is the oil for you. The bottle is perfection; the dropper distributes just enough product, which is key when you’re spending over $30 on a hair product. The scent is strong, which is also why you don’t want to overdo it with this oil. I will admit that I personally prefer this oil over the Kerastase Nutritive Hydrating Split Ends Serum because it’s not as heavy, yet still provides you that split end protection - there’s nothing worse than a thick hair oil you have to really scrub out with shampoo; it feels counterintuitive and like a waste, so if you’re between the two, stick to Kerastase Gloss Absolu Glaze Drops Anti-Frizz Hair Oil.
