Davines Heart of Glass Intense Treatment Review
It’s hard for blondes to find good hair products! You want something that will brighten your blonde, add shine, and make your hair soft without adding a film or changing its tone. By nature, the process of bleaching makes your hair more delicate, so it’s also important to find products that nourish hair and rehydrate instead of drying your strands out even more.
The Davines Heart of Glass line is a beloved favorite, known for adding illumination and making your hair noticeably softer. It’s pricey, though, so while the Heart of Glass Intense Treatment always caught my eye, I was hesitant to spend $43 on it, especially when the conditioner seems so similar and is just $7 more for almost double the product.
My hair stylist recently took me a little bit blonder, though, so I decided to finally give the Heart of Glass Intense Treatment a try. Keep reading for my full review, pros, cons, tips on how to use the treatment, and whether or not I think it’s worth it.

how to use davines heart of glass intense treatment
For best results, shampoo your hair and then lightly towel-dry it. You want your hair to be damp. And as inconvenient as it may be, I do think it’s worth it to towel-dry briefly even if you’re in the shower still, as it’ll help the treatment soak in better.
Apply the Heart of Glass Intense Treatment to your hair, focusing more on the mid-length to ends. I start in the middle, work my way to the ends, and then lightly brush whatever is leftover onto my roots, since I experience breakage there most often.
Leave on for 5-10 minutes.
Rinse out.
The Davines website says you can follow-up with the Heart of Glass Rich Conditioner, but my hair doesn’t need it. If anything, I personally prefer to apply a normal conditioner first and then towel-dry, then apply the Intense Treatment because it feels like a double-dose of hydrating.
Use once a week.
pros
Makes your hair noticeably softer - it feels like you left a deep conditioner in your hair for hours, yet doesn’t leave a film or weigh your hair down, even if you have fine hair like me.
Adds tons of shine - I kept getting compliments, which surprised me because I was in-between salon visits and had recently stayed at a hotel (and we all know how rough hotel water can be on hair!)
Results are the perfect mix of illuminating and hydrating.
You only have to leave it on for 5-10 minutes once a week to see results.
Gives you results on its own - obviously if you use it with the other Heart of Glass products you’ll see the most impact, but you still see results even with normal shampoo that isn’t specifically formulated for blondes.
cons
The scent is a little powdery for my personal preference, but it is very subtle and fades quickly.
It’s definitely pricey at $43 for 150ml of product. If you have long hair like me, it feels like the jar won’t last very long (maybe a few months if you use it weekly) - but a little goes a long way.
My mom has thick, grey hair and she’d probably only get 6 uses out of this or so. If you have a ton of hair or are fully blonde (like all-over bleach), I’d recommend using the Heart of Glass Rich Conditioner for the shine and then the Davines NouNou Hair Mask for weekly nourishment.
This isn’t the type of product you can make last longer by only using a little. You don’t have to overdo it, but it’s harder to stretch than a hair oil or leave-in, for example.
is davines heart of glass intense treatment worth it?
If your hair looks dull or feels dry, the Davines Heart of Glass Intense Treatment is absolutely worth it. This product is a true treatment - not just an extra-hydrating conditioner - and it provides incredible shine and seems to bring my blonde back to life. Like most of the Heart of Glass line, this made my hair SO soft without weighing it down. I don’t love the scent, but it isn’t overpowering, even if you’re sensitive to fragrance like me.
That being said, if you want to tone your blonde and remove brassiness, you instead want to try the Davines Alchemic Conditioner Silver. This will tone out the yellow/ orange brassy tones without tinting your hair blue or purple. It’s more powerful than some of the other toning conditioners I’ve tried, but is still nourishing and doesn’t dry out your hair. I use this every other week since my hair is neutral-toned; if you have icy blonde, once a week or every 4-5 washes would be your best bet.
davines heart of glass intense treatment vs rich conditioner
For those who want a direct comparison of the Heart of Glass Intense Treatment with the Rich Conditioner, here’s my breakdown:
The Rich Conditioner is more cost-effective; it’s $7 more, but you get almost double the amount of product ($43 for 150ml for the Intense Treatment; $50 for 250ml for the Rich Conditioner).
The scent is the same.
The Rich Conditioner has the indigo blue color true for most of the Heart of Glass line; the Intense Treatment is a creamy off-white.
The Rich Conditioner has a thinner texture; the Intense Treatment is thick, almost buttery in consistency.
You can technically use both together; use the Rich Conditioner and follow up with Intense Treatment.
If you want to illuminate your blonde, use the Rich Conditioner.
If you want to repair damage and prevent breakage, use Intense Treatment
Both products address brassiness and color fading.
Both products are color safe.
If you can only buy one, I personally prefer the Rich Conditioner paired with a cheaper hair mask (like the Davines NouNou Hair Mask).
