Best Winter Moisturizers for Dry, Sensitve Skin
Winter is here and as someone with dry, sensitive skin, staying hydrated feels like an uphill battle. I’ve tried countless products over the years, and finally found the moisturizers that keep my face and body deeply hydrated – no dry patches, flaky skin, irritations, reactions, or clogged pores. These are the products I can’t live without for keeping my dry, sensitive skin hydrated and soothed.
best moisturizers for dry, sensitive skin
Obagi Medical Hydrate Facial Moisturizer – The best moisturizer that is totally worth the money. It’s unscented, keeps flakes and dry patches at bay, and the hydration it provides lasts for hours. It’s lightweight enough for daytime, but I also use this as part of my evening skincare routine. When I’m in a particularly cold or dry climate, I switch to the luxe version of this moisturizer, which is thicker but doesn’t feel greasy.
GlyMed Plus Comfort Cream - I’ve always needed a heavy-duty moisturizer until this one. It’s lightweight, feels so soothing on your skin, yet provides tons of hydrating and I never get dry spots or flakes anymore. It has aloe vera to help reduce irritation and calm skin, and feels like it should cost way more than $40. If you are someone who deals with a cracked/ irritated nose when you get sick (from having to blow your nose), you need this.
Yonka Sensitive Creme - Having sensitive skin, I deal with redness quite a bit. This is a green-tinted moisturizer, and it cancels out the redness better than most color-correcting makeup primers that I’ve tried. It’s also not greasy, light-weight, and unscented.
Yonka Lotion PNG - This is a toning mist, and let me tell you I rarely think toners or skincare mists are worth it or impactful. I think I first got this as a gift with purchase, but I was so wow-ed by the results that I’ve since repurchased it 3 or 4 times. It’s a necessity in the winter months, especially if you need more hydration but don’t want to touch your face. It’s a fine mist that smells incredible, but noticeably hydrates your skin. I like to spray this before applying makeup, but also use it as a pick-me-up throughout the day.
Facial oil are amazing for adding a subtle glow and deep hydration to your skin, especially in cold, windy winter months. My two favorites are lightweight, don’t cause breakouts or leave you feeling greasy, and can be worn alone or with moisturizers.
Yonka Booster Defense+ - This is my go-to morning oil as it is light, absorbs quickly, protects your skin from pollutants, and doesn’t affect how my makeup wears.
Biossance Squalene & Vitamin C Rose Oil - I use this every night, and notice my skin starts to feel tight if I skip it. The Vitamin C has added skincare benefits, but it’s mild enough that it won’t cause a reaction.
best body moisturizers for dry, sensitive skin
Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Body Lotion – I’ve tried absolutely everything and spent so much money over the years trying to find a body lotion that will hydrate my skin without leaving it itchy or irritated. I don’t know why I was so late to try Aveeno, but I’ve been using it nonstop for three years now, and you really can’t find anything better than this. It’s unscented, hydrates your skin without leaving a film or greasy feeling, and absorbs quickly into the skin. You can’t beat the price, and I love that you can find this anywhere; no specialty online ordering required.
Malin + Goetz B5 Body Moisturizer - For extra dry spots like elbows, I love this moisturizer because it’s a bit thicker while still absorbing quickly and leaving you without any greasiness. The scent is citrusy, but light enough that it won’t give you a headache. A little goes a long way, and I save a little extra by subscribing to this on Amazon. I get one bottle every 4 months since I use this to mostly patch-treat dry spots, rather than as a full body lotion.
Being Frenshe Hydrating Hand Serum Lotion - This brand has a body lotion, but I prefer the hand serum for hands and feet because it dries down quickly and isn’t greasy. I can apply it and then get on with my day, which is key for fighting dry hands and cracked cuticles during the winter months. I actually keep this at my desk and use it throughout the day, and it has made such a difference in keeping my hands moisturized and prolonging manicures. I also recommend it for elbows, knees, and feet at night, especially if you don’t like to sleep in socks.
Caudalie Vinotherapist Hand and Nail Cream - The best hand cream I’ve used, although I will admit it’s a little greasy/ leaves a film. This is worth the money, and I go through a tube every winter. A little goes a long way, it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin, and smells so good. It feels like a self-care practice, but actually works, so I highly recommend it.
