Color Wow Money Mist Leave-In Conditioner Review
Truth be told, I am very late to the Color Wow game! I don’t know why, but the packaging never caught my eye and I never heard many people talking about them, but when I was requested to review the Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray, I was so obsessed with the results that I quickly invested in more of their products.
It’s rare to love every product a brand creates, and I have a few tried-and-true leave-in conditioners that I’ve loved for years, so I had high expectations for Color Wow Money Mist Leave-In Conditioner.
Meant to add shine (not just hydration) while also detangling, reducing frizz, and providing heat plus UV protection, this ultra-lightweight spray also promises to deliver the signature smooth, silky finish Color Wow is known for.
That said, it’s rare that a product can actually deliver on that many promises, so I wanted to put Money Mist to the test myself. For a full review with before and after results, pros, cons, who it won’t work for, and whether or not it’s worth the money, keep reading.

color wow money mist leave-in conditioner before and after
I honestly love the Color Wow Money Mist Leave-In Conditioner and think it’s one of the most underrated leave-ins on the market. It is super lightweight, yet nourishing enough that even my mom (who has thick, coarse, grey hair) notices results. I love that you get both heat and UV protection, and it’s one of the rare leave-ins that makes your hair shiny, not just soft. Still, my hair is noticeably softer, doesn’t tangle throughout the day, and feels hydrated when I go to wash it later on.
My hair is damage-prone after years of highlights, but it’s also stick-straight, so finding a moisturizing leave-in that doesn’t make my curls fall flat is rare, and Money Mist seems to enhance my curls rather than flatten them, which surprised me.
I will say that I have frizz-prone hair and Money Mist doesn’t fully cure that for me, but it does so much else that I’m not mad about it. I really think Money Mist is a multi-use product; it works as a detangler, heat protectant, and also adds enough shine that I can skip finishing oil, so for $30 you really can’t beat it.
how to use color wow money mist leave-in conditioner
You use Color Wow Money Mist the same way you do other leave-in conditioners:
Spray throughout clean, damp hair.
Comb to ensure the product has been distributed evenly.
Style your hair as usual. Money Mist has a heat protectant in it, so you can jump right into heat styling.
pros
Lightweight formula that works for fine hair
Great for detangling
Makes your hair softer
One of the few leave-in conditioners that adds noticeable shine
Provides heat and UV protection
Reduces frizz without feeling greasy
Works on all hair types
cons
Does not provide intense moisture; may not be enough for coarse hair on its own
Results are more visual/ superficial than deeply reparative
Slightly expensive for a leave-in
key ingredients

is color wow money mist leave-in conditioner worth it?
I’ve tried tons of leave-in conditioners at all price points over the years, and my standards are high. It takes a lot for me to fall in love with a product, but I genuinely like Color Wow Money Mist Leave-In Conditioner and think it’s worth the money. It’s a multi-use product, so while $30 is a little expensive, it will replace a few different products in your haircare regimen. It works as a detangler plus heat protectant while also adding shine and hydration. Additionally, it tames frizz, so if you feel like your hair is hard to manage, I recommend checking out Money Mist.
Price-wise, Money Mist Leave-In Conditioner costs $30 for a 5oz bottle. This is pretty common for most Sephora brands, so I wouldn’t say it’s overpriced. It has a thinner consistency so you can end up using more at a time than you do with a creamier leave-in, but it doesn’t feel like I’m running out of Money Mist too quickly. And when you consider that it also works as a heat protectant and detangler, it’s worth the money to me.
who it works best for
Color Wow Money Mist Leave-In Conditioner is an easy-to-use hair product that works. You’ll get the best results if you:
Have fine to medium hair that is easily weighed down
Want a lightweight, everyday leave-in conditioner
Have frizz-prone hair that needs smoothing without heaviness
Heat style your hair often and want a two-in-one product that offers hydration and heat protection
Want a glossy, polished finish without having to use a hair oil
who it might not work for
I think Money Mist is a pretty universal hair product, but there’s nothing worse than buying something that falls short of your expectations. This is a great product, but you may not love it if you:
Have very thick, coarse, or highly porous hair that needs deep moisture - try this leave-in instead, which also works as a detangler and heat protectant
Have curly or coily hair and prefer richer creams or butters
Anyone looking for a repair-focused treatment (like bond builders - grab this instead)
If you want strong hold or styling control - try Color Wow’s Extra Mist-ical Shine Spray instead.
how does color wow money mist leave-in conditioner compare to other products?
The Color Wow Money Mist Leave-In Conditioner focuses on lightweight hydration, added shine, and making your hair more manageable overall rather than intense repair or styling.
Compared to the Ouai Leave In Conditioner, Money Mist lighter and less creamy. I prefer Money Mist for fine hair, or when I want a polished look, like for special events or photos. (See my post, Money Mist vs OUAI Leave-In)
Compared to drugstore favorite It’s a 10, Money Mist is less protein-heavy. It feels more modern, functional, and weightless. Use It’s a 10 on pre-wash days when you want to treat your hair or if you have a lot of damage. Stick with Money Mist if you plan on styling your hair. For a more detailed breakdown, check out Money Mist vs It’s a 10.
Compared to Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray, Money Mist is your conditioning step, while Dream Coat is a styling/anti-humidity treatment. You don’t need to use both. Stick with Dream Coat if you want sleek hair or a polished, refined look. Money Mist is my go-to when I want beach waves or something low maintenance, since Color Wow requires a specific process to work.
If you haven’t heard of Dream Coat, check out my Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray Review or Color Wow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray vs Extra Strength comparison post. It’s quickly become one of my favorite products, but does require a little finesse to work (but even beginners can do it!)
I also have a before-and-after results comparison of Color Wow Dream Coat vs Money Mist if you want to see exactly how these products work and affect styling.
Overall, the Color Wow Money Mist Leave-In Conditioner works best as your prep step, AKA something you use before styling to create smoother, softer, more manageable hair. It’s a multi-use product that provides hydration and shine plus heat and UV protection, so if you’re looking for a two-in-one product, it’s worth the money.
